Advantages of Midface Lift (Extended Blepharoplasty) Treatment

Youthful Appearance

A mid-facelift makes you look younger by restoring the midface vector, reducing wrinkles, and enhancing facial contours.

Long-Lasting Results

The results of a mid-facelift can last for up to 10 years, keeping you looking youthful.

Low Risk

A mid-facelift is a safe procedure with minimal risk of complications or side effects.

Combined Procedures

A mid-facelift can be done alone or with other facial rejuvenation procedures for enhanced results.

The Procedure

How Does Mid Facelift Procedure Work?

Flexible incisions - tailored to mobilise the malar fat pad and enhance symmetry. Minimal extra scarring - often uses existing lower eyelid incisions. Unrivalled expertise - performed by a leading oculoplastic surgeon.

There are various approaches to performing the midface lift procedure, involving different incision areas. However, the goal of every approach is to mobilise the malar fat pad and midface tissues to restore symmetry and contour. A midface lift can be carried out alone or in conjunction with other procedures for rejuvenation, such as blepharoplasty or brow lifting.

The same lower eyelid incision used for a transcutaneous lower eyelid blepharoplasty can also be used for a mid facelift. The procedure is normally performed under general or twilight anaesthesia. The surgery takes between 1 and 2 hours, based on the patient and the complexity of the procedure. There is a longer downtime of 2 to 12 weeks, and there will also be a small scar at the outer corner of the eye.

What is an Extended Blepharoplasty and Mid Facelift?

A lower lid blepharoplasty that is combined with a lateral SOOF mid facelift is a minimally invasive, surgical treatment. Patients with severe, ongoing malar mounds and festoons that are recurrent or chronic usually choose this procedure. This procedure has the benefit of simultaneously treating malar bags and eye bags.

The goal of a midface lift treatment is to improve the alignment between the eyelid and cheek while also realigning the prominent appearance and position of the cheekbones. In order to give the patient more fullness around the eyes and cheeks and to help them look younger, more rested, and more refreshed, the midface lift can help raise the cheek fat pad.

Patient Questions About Midface Lift (Extended Blepharoplasty)

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions patients ask most often, answered by the clinic. If yours isn’t here, ask us directly - we would be delighted to help.

  • The lower lid surgical approach is usually considered safe if performed by a qualified and experienced oculoplastic surgeon. However, there are risks associated with the treatment, just like with other surgeries, that include persistent oedema, discomfort, anaesthetic reactions, and discernible scarring.
  • The ideal age for this treatment is around the mid-40s; the results can typically last 7 to 10 years.
  • After surgery, you will experience some pain for two to four days. For a few days, opening your mouth might be difficult for you. Most likely, the skin surrounding the incisions will be numb. As the sensation comes back, you can experience some shooting pain or itching.
  • An extended blepharoplasty with mid face lift is not the same as a mini mid-face lift. Plastic surgeons make tiny incisions around the ears and by the hairline to reduce scarring, restoring youthful features by carefully lifting and repositioning the underlying tissues. A micro facelift is not as thorough in addressing midface sagging or the neck as a complete facelift.
  • During the mini mid-face lift, plastic surgeons make tiny incisions around the ears and by the hairline to reduce scarring. They restore youthful features by carefully lifting and repositioning the underlying tissues. A micro facelift is not as thorough in addressing midface sagging or the neck as a complete facelift.
  • In general, patients require 2-12 weeks to recover. Because mid facelifts involve significantly less invasive surgery than traditional facelifts, the recovery time is shorter and less painful.

Dr Sabrina is the magic eye fairy. Only 10 days after my lower lid bleph and midface lift and nearly all bruising and swelling has gone. After a lot of research, I knew after my initial consultation with Dr Sabrina she was the one I trusted. Such a warm & kind woman. I am so pleased I put my Trust in Dr Shah. Immensely happy with the results and will be back to get my upper eyes done in the future. Thank you to the whole team.

I had been recommended Dr Sabrina by a medical colleague & am extremely glad I made the journey from Southampton to the Perfect Eye Clinic in London to discuss blepharoplasty. The team were all so friendly & very professional and most importantly, Dr Sabrina informed me that I had a bilateral eye ptosis. This explained a number of issues I was experiencing. I will definitely be booking to have a correction of bilateral eye ptosis and upper blepharoplasty. Can't recommend enough.
