What is Sofwave™ Treatment?
Sofwave™ may be used to promote dermal support and improve skin quality in individuals presenting with mild to moderate laxity or fine lines in the periocular region. It works through focused ultrasound energy, which is directed at the mid-dermal layer (approximately 1.5 mm deep).
The controlled thermal effect produced helps stimulate new collagen and elastin formation, leading to gradual improvement in skin firmness and structure. Treatment effects are monitored over time, and staged sessions may be recommended based on clinical assessment.

How Does the Sofwave™ Treatment Work?
During the procedure, a handheld applicator delivers focused ultrasound energy to the mid-dermal tissue. This produces controlled heat that initiates a wound-healing response, leading to collagen remodelling and gradual improvement in skin elasticity.
No incisions or injections are involved. Patients may feel mild warmth or tingling during treatment. Any temporary redness or tenderness typically resolves within hours.

The questions patients ask most often, answered by the clinic. If yours isn’t here, ask us directly - we would be delighted to help.
- Yes. Periocular safety measures are used to protect ocular structures. The device is FDA-cleared for non-invasive lifting and tightening.
- The results will appear natural immediately after the treatment, but it will take 3-6 months to see the final results. Some individuals may require a second treatment after 6 months to enhance the outcomes. In an FDA study, 70-80% of patients experienced visible skin tightening results, and 80% observed a 2-4 mm lift in eyebrow height.
- There is no downtime. You may experience some mild, localised swelling or tenderness, but it usually goes away quickly, just like with any other aesthetic treatment.
- Because your own collagen production gets gradually stimulated, the effects can last between 12-24 months.
- Yes, Sofwave can help improve the skin around the eyes by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, but it may not provide the same results as a surgical procedure called blepharoplasty or wrinkle-relaxing injections.
- Sofwave uses high-frequency ultrasound waves to improve the skin by boosting collagen production. While this treatment is generally safe, there is a small risk of burns or blisters from the heated ultrasound waves. Some temporary soreness or redness in the treatment area may occur, but these effects usually go away shortly after the session.
- Before the procedure, a numbing cream is applied to the area for about an hour to reduce any pain during the procedure. You might feel a little uncomfortable as your skin starts to tighten, but it's temporary. Some discomfort might last for about an hour after the treatment, but it goes away quickly.
- The best candidates are people who are generally healthy, with a mild to moderate amount of loose skin and soft tissue and are seeking subtle, gradual improvements in areas like the brow, cheeks, jowls, or neck. This treatment can also be beneficial for those who want to slow down the signs of ageing and are typically between 40 & 80 years old. For more advanced ageing concerns like severe skin laxity, this can be combined with LASER for individuals that prefer non-invasive treatments vs a traditional full facelift.
