What is the downtime?

When you leave our clinic, the skin is slightly pink, but make up can be applied right away. The skin then peels after a few days, so early results can be seen within a few days after the treatment. Occasionally some people have a thin micro-crust on the skin that can take a week to flake off, however this can be covered with make up. The best results are seen after a course of 3-6 treatments, every 3-4 weeks. As these are fractional ablative treatments, they are more aggressive skin treatments. Those who undergo the most aggressive treatments are back in make-up in 4-7 days after UltraClear laser treatment - compared to 7-14 days with CO2 laser. Additionally, the revolutionary technology of the UltraClear laser provides the desired result with much less heat and discomfort.

Does the treatment hurt?

To minimise discomfort, topical numbing cream is applied to the skin for approximately 45 minutes prior to the treatment. Immediately after the treatment, the skin feels hot and can retain this heat for the first 4-8 hours, which can give some discomfort.

Do I need to pre/post treat my skin?

As these are aggressive laser treatments, we prefer to ensure that you do not suffer with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which can occur in the darker skin types. We recommend a course of pigment inhibiting topical skin care at least 2-4 weeks prior to and for 3 weeks post treatment. The team personalises the recommendations, after a thorough skin consult and assessment using the Canfield Visia system.

How many treatments will I need?

This is dependent on each individual. You will notice an improvement in your skin from 4-5 days after. For an invasive treatment the results can last for 1-5 years. However, since our skin continues to age and new wrinkles and spots may appear due to sun damage and daily life, additional treatments may be needed to maintain healthier, fresher and younger looking skin.
