How Does the Procedure Work?
A Silhouette Soft Thread Lift uses sutures or "threads" to lift and tighten the skin of the face and neck. Made from resorbable polylactic acid sutures, which dissolve to help stimulate your skin's own collagen production, the sutures are inserted 3 to 5 mm beneath the skin using a needle (without any incisions) - while local anaesthetic is used at the entry and exit points. Usually 2-4 threads are placed on each side of the face or neck.
Once the sutures have been placed beneath the skin, they are pulled back to lift and smooth the sagging tissues, and can also be compressed and reshaped to obtain the desired lifting effect. The procedure can be performed in less than one hour. As patients usually remain fully conscious during the procedure, they can interact with Dr Sabrina - and even approve the results midway through the treatment.
Within 12 to 18 months the Silhouette Soft sutures are completely absorbed, while studies have shown that results last between 18 to 36 months (with some results lasting longer due to ongoing collagen production). However, as with all anti-ageing treatments, age and lifestyle can have an effect on the longevity of the aesthetic outcome.
