What are Autologous Exosomes?
Autologous exosomes are vesicles derived from a patient's own tissues or cells. They are used to support skin repair, hydration, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue regeneration. In hair care, they may promote healthy scalp function and support hair follicle health. Autologous exosome therapy for hair or skin is considered a medical treatment for regenerative purposes, and parallels the principle of an autologous stem cell transplant - personalised, immune-compatible treatment derived entirely from your own body.
How Does the Procedure Work with Autologous Exosomes?
Autologous exosomes are isolated from your own blood cells. We take 60ml of your blood - a relatively painless procedure, similar to blood being taken from a vein for a blood test. We request that you eat food 1-2 hours prior to having the treatment and be well-hydrated with water, and avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to the treatment. Plan to be in the clinic for 60-90 minutes.
You can be a bit bruised and swollen for between 1 to 7 days after the face treatment, but not for the hair treatment. The skin of the face and neck, or the scalp, is numbed for 20-30 minutes while the exosomes are being prepared. The skin is cleansed, and multiple fine, painless injections are performed using an invisible needle to inject the exosomes into the dermis of the skin or the scalp.
