Plexr/Plasma Pen Treatment Summary
Plexr/plasma pen soft surgery treatment is a revolutionary way to treat loose eyelid and neck skin or puffy eyelids without the downtime and cost of surgery. If you have mild-moderate loose skin, this is a fantastic alternative to consider. For moderate to severe eye bags, you should consider eye bag removal surgery as an alternative.
Dr Shah-Desai is a leading international oculoplastic surgeon, with over 20 years of experience with aesthetic and medical eye treatments. She achieves incredibly, natural-looking results with non-surgical eyelid lifts, based on her extensive knowledge of anatomy and relevant surgical experience.
- Less downtime – compared to surgical alternatives
- Long-lasting results – lasts up to 1-2 years
- Unrivalled expertise – performed by leading oculoplastic surgeon
Plasma pen treatments stimulate the contraction, shortening and tightening of skin fibres – which results in a tightening of the skin. With the help of portable hand piece, Mrs Shah-Desai marks a small grid on the skin and creating combustion of the skin corneocytes, without damaging surrounding tissue. This tightens the area and is very effective at performing non-surgical eyelid lifts and neck tightening.
The procedure is carried out in an outpatient setting, under topical or local anaesthetic and can be used for numerous aesthetic concerns, treating loose facial skin, scarring, and to perform blepharoplasty and brow lifts.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Plasma?
Plasma is the 4th state of matter and is created when gases in the air are ionised with the help of a special device, which creates a small electrical arc that treats problem areas – without spreading unwanted heat to the surrounding skin.
This technique for tightening eyelid and neck skin has been used Italy & Greece for many years.
Plasma Pen / Plexr® Eyelid Lift vs Blepharoplasty surgery?
Surgical blepharoplasty is excellent for correcting moderate to severe loose eyelid skin and puffy eyelids. It is still the “gold standard” for patients seeking blepharoplasty, with impressive results lasting more than 10 years, for a few weeks of downtime.
Soft surgery is a new innovative way of tightening loose skin and is an impressive alternative to surgery, allowing a gentle correction of moderate loose skin. For eyelid lifts (blepharoplasty) often 3-4 sessions may be required, which are performed every 6-8 weeks. Perfect for people who want a gradual, scarless correction.
Does Plasma/Plexr soft-surgery hurt?
Local anaesthetic cream is applied on cleansed skin for an hour. Most patients feel some heat and pain. At the end of the session, there will be small black/brown combustion points in the treated area which may be sore.
Side effects and downtime
Following treatment, the eyelids swell temporarily, which settle in 48-72 hours, and may require use of oral anti-inflammatory tablets.
The carbon crust takes from 4 to 10 days to disappear. It is important not to scratch, pick or rub the area treated as a pinkish skin discoloration or hypo/hyperpigmentation could persist.
You will be required to use Oxygenatix foundation, which has to be applied on the treated area for one month to aid the healing process.
You should not have Plexr® soft surgery if you…
- Are pregnant
- Have very dark skin as there is a risk of pale spots (hypopigmentation) or post inflammatory dark spots (hyperpigmentation), especially if the carbon crusts are picked or scratched.
What other options are there for facial rejuvenation?
Ellansé is an injectable treatment that boosts the production of collagen and Morpheus8 is very effective for tightening facial skin (see the before and after pictures) using radiofrequency and microneedling.

“The procedure itself was not uncomfortable. It felt a little warm in some areas but other than that nothing. I had some swelling for about 3 days and had an intermittent stinging sensation. It is now 2 weeks on and I am very happy with the result. I would definitely recommend this treatment.”
“Excellent results from Botox, fillers and Plexr. Would highly recommend Sabrina. I felt very safe in the hands of Sabrina. She is very friendly and explains everything in detail. Her clinic in Harley street is very calming and relaxing and her staff are also excellent. If you’re thinking about having eyelid surgery as I was then try Plexr with Sabrina. Results are brilliant. Worth every penny!”
“Mrs Shah-Desai was utterly professional from our first consultation. I had Plexr for my upper eyelids and thereafter Botox. I'm thrilled by what this gifted consultant has been able to restore to my face. I was terrified of losing my natural expression; Mrs Shah-Desai listened to my concerns and has ensured I look like a much better yet entirely natural version of myself. Sabrina is beautiful and she is not afraid to use her talents to let you be beautiful too.”

Nano Plasma Pen Treatment at Perfect Eyes Ltd
“This kind of eyelid procedure is known as ‘soft’ surgery, but I warn you now there is nothing soft about the process. Dr Shah-Desai is an expert in facial rejuvenation and is the only oculoplastic surgeon practising non-surgical blepharoplasty in the UK. I am told it should be mildly uncomfortable, but, unashamedly, I have the world’s lowest pain threshold.”
“…After the treatment my eyelids display a snazzy pattern, but I can immediately see some lift to the eyelid.”
“…over the course of the next two weeks by eyelids regained their smooth appearance and the lift was visible.”
