take the eyelid surgery testWhat is Double Eyelid Surgery (Asian Blepharoplasty)?
Double eyelid surgery, often known as "Asian blepharoplasty," is a surgical treatment used to give Asian patients a more refreshed, awake appearance. The purpose of Asian Blepharoplasty is to form a natural upper eyelid crease, resulting in a bespoke eyelid shape that is real to the patient's ethnicity. When it comes to correcting eyelid problems, surgical blepharoplasty is the gold standard. It produces great and long-lasting effects while treating moderate to severe cases of swollen upper eyelids and lash ptosis.

How Does Double Eyelid Blepharoplasty
Procedure Work?
Double Eyelid Surgery can create a “wide awake” appearance by forming a natural crease in the upper lids and removing excess skin, muscle, and fat.
Double Eyelid Surgery, or an Asian Blepharoplasty, can be performed in two ways.
Incision/Open Technique uses an cut, which enables the scar to be hidden in the crease and requires approximately 2 weeks of downtime, with the scar being fully settled by 3-6 months. The procedure can only last 5-15 years.
Non-Incision/Suture Technique uses a running stitch to create the crease and requires no incisions. Therefore, it does not leave a scar. The recovery is faster, approximately 1-2 weeks. However, the procedure may only last 2-5 years.
Double Eyelid Surgery is performed under local anaesthesia or twlight anesthesia as a day case, so you can go home on the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the recovery time with Double Eyelid Surgery?
For a Surgical Double Eyelid Treatment, it takes one week to recover from the initial surgery. During that time, you can go about your normal activities while healing, though you cannot exercise or put your body under extraneous strain. After one week, the stitches will be removed. For a Non-Incisional Double Eyelid Surgery, the eyelids will swell temporarily. However, this settles in 48-72 hours and can be lessened through the use of oral anti-inflammatory tablets.
Can double eyelid surgery (Asian Blepharoplasty) make your eyes look bigger?
Eyelid surgery can make your eyes appear bigger by removing extra skin and lifting sagging skin around the eyes. However, it’s important to know that the surgery can only make your eyes appear bigger, not actually change their size.
How many years does the effect of Blepharoplasty last?
The effect of blepharoplasty typically lasts for 2-10 years. The duration can be affected by how well you look after your skin.
How much does Asian Blepharoplasty cost?
Prices for Non-Incisional Double Eyelid Surgery and Surgical Double Eyelid Surgery are £5,500.
What are the risks associated with Double Eyelid Surgery?
Double Eyelid Blepharoplasty, like all surgery, has some risks, but they are usually rare. These risks are similar to regular eyelid surgery such as infection, scarring, swelling, and changes to the shape of the eyelids. One common issue is that the eyelids may not look the same after surgery. To prevent this, Dr. Sabrina Shah Desai pays very close attention to every detail when planning and doing this surgery.
