When you have a blepharoplasty, your surgeon will work on your upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both, depending on your goals. Here’s what happens during the procedure:
Upper eyelid surgery involves making small cuts in the natural crease of the eyelid, which won’t be noticeable when your eyes are open. How long does blepharoplasty last?
The effects of blepharoplasty last a long time, but it won’t stop your eyes from ageing. Upper and lower eyelid surgery can last from 10 years up to a lifetime.
Is eyelid surgery painful?
Eyelid surgery is done under anaesthesia, and afterwards, your surgeon will apply antibiotic ointment to your eye, which may cause blurred vision. It’s normal to have dry eyes, numbness, and some irritation for a short time after the procedure.
How long does eyelid surgery take?
The procedure duration depends on the extent of the surgery required, but generally, eyelid surgery takes between one to two hours. After the surgery, it’s important to have someone available to take you home and stay with you for several hours.
What are the risks of eyelid surgery?
Eyelid surgery, like any other surgery, has some risks. These can include problems including:
