What is Brow Lift?
The eyebrow lift, also referred to as the lateral brow lift or forehead lift, is a sought-after procedure used to refresh the appearance of the forehead & eyebrow for individuals looking to address signs of ageing. By repositioning the brow and forehead, this procedure not only elevates the brow & improves the eye area but also reinstates the youthful contour of the brow line. The goal of the eyebrow lift surgery is to revive the natural look of the upper facial area so that it harmonises with the overall facial appearance.

How Does Brow Lift Surgery
Procedure Work?
A brow lift surgery typically takes 1-3 hours. The surgeon numbs the area with anaesthesia to ensure you don’t feel pain. They make incisions in the skin to access the muscles and skin, causing wrinkles or deep frown lines. The surgeon removes excess skin and muscles & may also reposition the muscles to achieve a smoother look. Finally, they close the incisions with stitches and cover the area with padding and bandages.
There are three main types of brow lift surgeries:
Direct Brow Lift: This is the minimally invasive type, requiring a tiny incision made around the brow’s outer corner. It’s suitable for patients with brow ptosis (drooping eyebrows) caused by facial nerve palsy or ageing.
Pretrichial Brow Lift: This involves making incisions in front of the hairline, making it ideal for patients who comb their hair forward. This technique doesn’t usually affect the hairline and can even lower it if needed.
Mid-Forehead Brow Lift: This involves making incisions within the forehead’s wrinkles, making it a good option for patients who want a more subtle scar.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many years do brow lifts typically last?
Brow lifts usually last around 1 to 3 years on average, although some people may see results for longer. Your age and skincare routine can affect how long the results last.
Is eyebrow lift surgery safe?
Yes, brow lift surgery is safe. But, like any surgery, it carries some risks, such as allergic reactions to anaesthesia, bleeding, infection, & blood clots. However, the risks are relatively low.
Is a brow lift painful?
During a brow lift, you won’t feel any pain because your surgeon will use an anaesthetic. After the procedure, you may experience bruising, tightness, and swelling at the surgical site, but any discomfort can be managed with medication.
Do brow lifts leave scars?
After a brow lift, you may have some scarring, but these should fade over several months to a year. There are ways to help the healing process & reduce the visibility of the scars.
What are the risks associated with a brow lift?
Some of the potential risks and complications include scarring, infection, limited eyebrow movement, itching, bad reaction to anaesthesia, pain, hair loss around the incisions, asymmetry, and numbness. However, these are relatively rare.
How much time does a brow lift take to show results?
A brow lift is a permanent procedure, but its results may diminish as you age. Your skin loses elasticity over time, causing wrinkles to reappear. While the wrinkles may return, they won’t be as deep or severe.
What age is best for brow lift surgery?
There isn’t a set age for getting a brow lift, but most people who have this procedure are usually between 40 and 65. However, some younger individuals who are unhappy with their heavy brows or deep lines have also chosen to undergo this surgery.
