What are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are fragments of Fish DNA in a saline injectable gel that aim to help repair tissue by stimulating fibroblasts, encouraging cell turnover, improving elasticity, and boosting collagen production and hydration of the skin. Those who are susceptible to swelling after conventional dermal fillers or are concerned about complications associated with dermal fillers, and have very thin under-eye skin are ideal candidates. Polynucleotides enhance the skin’s quality by encouraging the body’s natural regenerative processes.

How Does Polynucleotide
Procedure Work?

Dr. Sabrina often uses a numbing cream that is applied for 15 minutes prior to the procedure. The whole procedure takes around 15 minutes, and a fine needle or cannula is used to perform the treatment. Polynucleotides (PDRNs) work by signalling to particular cells in the body to change their behaviour and generate collagen, hyaluronic acid, and fat. These result in a tighter, brighter, more lifted appearance naturally, but it takes time and a course of treatments.

Patient Questions About Polynucleotides

Frequently Asked Questions

How can polynucleotide treatment benefit my under-eye area?

Polynucleotide treatment can help by:
– Making dark circles look less noticeable
– Smoothing out crow’s feet and fine lines under the eyes
– Improving skin hydration and circulation in this sensitive area
Polynucleotides help increase collagen and elastin by activating fibroblast cells, as well as promoting tissue regeneration and restoring skin tone and elasticity. They also have antioxidant and hydrating properties, which can make the skin look and feel healthier.

When will I see the results?

Patients can expect to see improvements after 2-4 treatments, between 3-4 weeks apart, which can last 6–9 months.

What happens during the polynucleotide treatment?

First, we will take a photo of you before the treatment. Then, we will apply a numbing cream on your eyelids and wait for 10-20 minutes for it to work. The actual treatment usually takes less than 15 minutes. You may see some immediate results, but there could be some swelling and bruising afterwards. If you have dark circles under your eyes along with a sunken area, you may need special skincare to help with the dark circles too.

Are polynucleotide fillers painful?

We use a numbing cream under the eyes before the treatment, so the injections should not be painful.

What are the side effects and recovery time?

You might have some mild swelling and bruising, but it shouldn’t last long and can be covered with makeup. Our goal is to give you a natural look, and any swelling or bruising should go away fairly quickly.

Who should avoid this treatment?

This treatment is not suitable for vegetarians, vegans, or individuals with fish allergies because it contains animal products. It is also not recommended for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Can I consume alcohol before getting this treatment?

We advise against consuming alcohol at least 24 hours before the treatment as injections can lead to bruising.
