What is Plexr/Plasma Pen Treatment?
Plexr/Plasma pen treatment is a non-surgical skin tightening procedure that is best known for its non-invasive ability to raise upper eyelids without the need for incisions. The innovative Plexr/plasma pen treatment causes skin fibres to contract, shorten, and tighten to reduce puffiness and loose skin around the eyes and neck without much downtime associated with any surgery. This is an option to think about if you have mild-to-moderately loose skin.

How Does Plexr/Plasma Pen
Treatment Work?
The Plexr is a portable handheld device that works through the “sublimation” process (the process of converting a solid into a gas) and the ionisation of gases in the air. This produces “plasma,” which is then used to contract and tighten the surface of the skin.
With the help of this device, Dr. Shah-Desai marks a small grid on the skin and creates combustion of the skin corneocytes without damaging surrounding tissue. This tightens the area and is particularly helpful for non-surgical eyelid lifts and neck tightening.
The technique is performed in an outpatient setting with local anaesthesia. It can be used to treat a variety of aesthetic issues, including loose face skin, scars, blepharoplasty & brow lifts. Most patients need 2-3 treatments every 6 weeks apart to see results.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is plasma?
Plasma is the 4th state of matter, formed when gases in the air are ionised using a specific device, resulting in a short electrical arc that treats problematic areas without causing undesired heat to the surrounding skin. This procedure for tightening eyelid and neck skin has been practised in Italy and Greece for many years.
Does plasma pen/Plexr soft surgery hurt?
A local anaesthetic cream is applied on cleansed skin for 10 mins and a local anesthetic injected. At the end of the session, there will be little black/brown combustion points in the treated area that may be irritating.
What is the downtime for plasma pen/Plexr treatment?
Following treatment, the eyelids temporarily swell, which resolves in 48-72 hours and may necessitate the use of oral anti-inflammatory medications. The carbon crust takes between 4 and 10 days to dissipate. Scratching, picking, or rubbing the treated region is not recommended since pinkish skin discolouration or hypo/hyperpigmentation may persist. You will be required to use Oxygenatix foundation, which must be administered to the treated area for 2 weeks to help in healing.
Who is not the ideal candidate for plasma pen/Plexr treatment?
Do not undergo Plexr® soft surgery if you
- Are pregnant.
- Have anaemia.
- Are a nursing mother.
- Have very dark skin since there is a possibility of pale patches (hypopigmentation) or post-inflammatory dark spots (hyperpigmentation), particularly if the carbon crusts are scraped or scratched
How long will the plasma pen/Plexr treatment results last?
The results of a course can last up to 1-2 years. No treatment, even surgery, provides permanent results. Ageing is a dynamic process, and your Plexr treatment will not prevent future ageing.
What are the side effects of plasma pen/Plexr treatment?
The treatment may cause swelling, scabbing, & crusting. As Plexr basically burns the skin in a controlled fashion, each of those small lightning-bolt marks has the potential to induce scarring; and because three rounds of treatment are recommended for the best results.
