What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is a revolutionary injectable treatment which uses a high concentration of hyaluronic acid to boost and hydrate the skin, while also remodelling sagging or ageing tissues. Since launching in 2015, it has won numerous awards for its innovativeness, as well as its natural-looking results. Profhilo is suitable for both men and women of all ages and skin types, while the most common areas for treatment include the face, neck, decolletage, back of hands, arms, knees and abdomen.
How does the procedure work?
Dr Sabrina/ her team starts by cleaning the skin and mapping out the targeted injection sites ahead of treatment (for optimal results, the face requires five points on each side). Topical anaesthetic is not required for treatment – however, if you are concerned about discomfort, this can easily be applied. The hyaluronic acid-based gel is then injected into the dermis, using a very fine needle, where it not only restores hydration but it also stimulates the fibroblasts to produce fresh collagen and elastin – for renewed firmness. Immediately after, you will notice small “bee sting” welts, which will disappear in less than 24 hours. Two treatments, four weeks apart, are required – resulting in dewy, luminous, healthy-looking skin. The whole procedure takes around 20 minutes.
- Subtle result – perfect for those seeking radiant, healthy-looking skin
- Minimal downtime – can return to normal activities straight away
- Unrivalled expertise – performed by leading oculoplastic surgeon

Patient Questions
Commonly Asked Questions about Profhilo
When will I see results?
In a few days, skin looks brighter, healthier and rejuvenated – however the body requires up to three months to generate new collagen and elastin – therefore the skin-firming benefits will take a little longer to become apparent. For this reason, more mature patients may need additional treatments.
What is the downtime?
Immediately after, you will notice small “bee sting” welts in the injection sites – these feel hard to touch but are not painful. Some patients prefer to hide these beneath a scarf or oversized sunglasses; however they will disappear in less than 24 hours as the Profhilo integrates with the tissues.
Is Profhilo painful?
Unlike many other injectable products, Profhilo does not contain the anaesthetic lidocaine – which means that the injections may sting a little. Most patients are able to tolerate this easily; however if you are concerned about discomfort, a topical anaesthetic cream can be applied beforehand.
How long does Profhilo last?
The effects of Profhilo can last anywhere between 6-12 months, therefore it is recommended that you book in for a top-up treatment each year.
Am I suitable for Profhilo?
You should not have Profhilo if you have a known allergy to fillers, or have an active infection at site of injection. You are advised not to have alcohol in your system, as this is more likely to cause, nor should you have the treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
