Revolutionary Non-Surgical Facelift with Silhouette Soft Thread Lift – by Leading Oculoplastic Surgeon, Dr Sabrina Shah-Desai, in London

What is Silhouette Soft Thread Lift?

Silhouette-Soft Thread Lift is a revolutionary non-surgical facelift treatment, which uses sutures or “threads” to tighten lax skin while stimulating collagen production. Suitable for both men and women, the minimally-invasive procedure can effectively correct jowls and sagging skin while lifting and regenerating the mid-face, jowls and neck. The result is a fresher, more rested appearance – without the downtime, associated risks or cost of surgery.

What causes the face and neck to sag?

With time, the soft tissues of the face and neck become lax – as a result of age, sun exposure or simply genetics. Meanwhile, the bony scaffolding of the face starts to reabsorb, while the facial muscles become weaker – resulting in a lack of structural support for the skin and underlying fat. If left untreated, this can make the patient appear tired, sad or even angry – even when they are in good spirits. Dr Sabrina is highly regarded for her skin tightening techniques such as Silhouette Soft® and FaceTite™, which work to lift and remodel the face and neck.

How does the procedure work?

A Silhouette Soft Thread Lift uses sutures or “threads” to lift and tighten the skin of the face and neck. Made from resorbable polylactic acid sutures, which dissolve to help stimulate your skin’s own collagen production, the sutures are inserted 3 to 5 mm beneath the skin using a needle (without any incisions) – while local anaesthetic is used at the entry and exit points. Usually 2-4 threads are placed on each side of the face or neck.

Once the sutures have been place beneath the skin, the sutures are pulled back to lift and smooth the sagging tissues, and can also be compressed and reshaped to obtain the desired lifting effect. The procedure can be performed in less than one hour. As patients usually remain fully conscious during the procedure, they can interact with Dr Sabrina – and even approve the results midway through the treatment.

Within 12 to 18 months the Silhouette Soft sutures are completely absorbed, while studies have shown that results last between 18 to 36 months (with some results lasting longer due to ongoing collagen production). However, as with all anti-ageing treatments, age and lifestyle can have an effect on the longevity of the aesthetic outcome.

  • Less downtime – compared to surgical alternatives

Patient Questions

Commonly Asked Questions about Silhouette Soft Thread Lift

Is a Silhouette Soft Thread Lift safe?

Silhouette Soft is a safe, minimally-invasive treatment which should only ever be administered by a trained practitioner.

What is the recovery period?

Following treatment, patients might experience minor pain, swelling and bruising – all of which are common side effects with any aesthetic treatment. Slight skin depressions or tightness can last for a few days following the treatment, but these are typically short lived. Most patients are back to work within 2 to 3 days.

What aftercare is required?

There are a variety of post-treatment recommendations to aid recovery and improve results. An ice pack applied immediately after treatment can be helpful, and no make-up should be worn for the first 24 hours. Patients are also advised to sleep facing up, and elevated by pillows for the first 3 to 5 nights. Your physician will provide a more extensive guide during the consultations.

What are the potential side effects?

Following a Silhouette Soft Thread Lift, some patients may experience bruising in the operated region. Rarer complications subside after proper treatment and may include the accumulation of fluid under the skin in the operated region, inflammation or infection of the scar and tissue, and uneven skin surface in the treated areas. Further risks include feeling the sutures under the skin, facial asymmetry, or prolonged painfulness of the cheeks and temples.

Can I still benefit from toxin and hyaluronic acid dermal fillers?

Silhouette Soft Thread Lift is an excellent complement to other cosmetic treatments, such as dermal fillers and toxin. The latter can continue to be injected during Silhouette Soft Thread Lift as well as after treatment.
